Susan is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over twenty years of experience in private practice seeing individuals, families, and couples as well as running groups. She works concurrently in a community mental health facility as an outpatient therapist and case manager. She was trained as a facilitator for 10-week grief support groups through the nationally renowned Grief Education Institute in 1984. This structure was then adapted for use with the Pet Loss Support Group, the free, weekly support group provided by the Human Animal Bond Trust, Inc. which Susan has facilitated several months of the year for the past 20 years. Susan is the single parent of two adopted children, a dog and three cats.
Kay Gilchrist, LCSW
Kay is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked as a psychotherapist, Employee Assistance Program counselor, and consultant in the Denver area for over 35 years. As the first therapist to facilitate the Pet Loss Support Group in 1988, she has long been interested in the human-animal bond, especially as related to pet loss. As a psychotherapist and grief counselor, Kay recognizes the strength and value of the human-animal bond as a tool for healing. She was instrumental in for the formation of the Human-Animal Bond Trust, Inc. and continues to be a member of this committee. Kay co-parents a dog and two cats.
Ann Johnson, LCSW
Ann is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked in medical social work, community mental health, and the schools as a social worker for the past 36 years. In her private practice she has worked with individuals, couples, families and groups and has been facilitating the Pet Loss Support Group several months of the year for over 20 years. Currently co-chair of the Human Animal Bond Trust, Inc., Ann is committed to the continuation of the Pet Loss Support Group and expanding the range of services provided to the community regarding the human-animal bond. Ann is parent to a dog and two cats.
